Replacement EXHAUST side hook for BMW Valve Adjust tool number 11 3 170.
This tool is used to adjust valves on US model E28 M5 and E24 M6, along with all versions of S14 powered E30 M3 and S38 powered E34 M5, including Euro 3.8L versions.
The aligning rib on the back side of the hook breaks if used incorrectly. BMW does not offer replacement hooks. These hooks are manufactured from stronger material and heat treated. They will ONLY work on tools that have screws securing the hooks. Early tools had welded hooks. See picture #2 for an example of the correct tool.
